Cabaret Stars set to seduce at London Wonderground

International “cabaret superstars” (Time Out London), and winners of this year’s Adelaide Fringe “Best Cabaret” award, acclaimed musical comedy duo EastEnd Cabaret are bringing their comically perverse cabaret style to the hotly-anticipated London Wonderground for three performances only.

Direct from a ten-week tour of Australia, the character comedy duo Bernadette Byrne and Victor Victoria will begin a monthly residence at this old fashioned sideshow-inspired festival, curated by Underbelly and the Southbank Centre. The capital’s new home for circus, cabaret and variety is centered around a specially commissioned Speigeltent – the perfect setting for this deviant diva and her freakish half-man, half-woman musical accomplice.

EastEnd Cabaret’s salacious style has ensured their place at the forefront of London’s cabaret scene since their first performance only two years ago. With a potent mix of hilariously risqué original songs played on instruments from the accordion to the musical saw, they have shocked, aroused and entertained audiences across the UK, Europe and Australia, and were named one of Time Out magazine’s top ten cabaret artists of 2011.

The Revolution Will Be Sexual – their first full-length show – was the cult-hit of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011, winning full houses and unanimous critical praise including a “Must See” accolade from The Stage, and saw EastEnd Cabaret becoming the first cabaret act to be nominated for a “Best Emerging Company” Total Theatre Award.

Featured at the Wonderground alongside the likes of Tim Minchin and punk-cabaret kings the Tiger Lillies, this debauched duo are the embodiment of London’s neo-cabaret scene; provocative, playful, and highly entertaining.
